Speech and language resource
At Meadow Vale we have a specialist Speech & Language Resource led by learning support assistants and NHS Speech and Language Therapists. The resource caters to pupils with speech and language disorders. The resource staff work alongside the class teachers to ensure that the pupils within the resource are included in the mainstream classroom while having their speech and language needs met through therapy sessions.
Pupils are placed in the resource by Bracknell Forest after consultation with professionals from the school. Pupils may be eligible for placement within the resource if they have an EHC plan and/or have a speech, language, or communication impairment, which is their primary need.
Pupils come to the speech and language resource with different speech or language disorders. The main objective is that each pupil has the appropriate programme initiated so that they can participate as fully and confidently in the life of the school as possible. Once the pupil has achieved all of their therapeutic targets, they will return to their designated mainstream school. There are places for 20 primary aged pupils and two part-time nursery pupils within the resource.
